Labels:text | screenshot OCR: WBKillAGA Version 1.0 (July 15, 1993) WBKillAGA - A WorkBench interface for KillAGA -1993 Fabian Nutez KillAGA by Jolyon Ralph is a brilliant little program that will let you Introduction : temporarily disable the AGA chipset and CPU funny modes for the duration of the execution of a program. Problem is, it only takes command-line arguments. Jolyon suggests that, to make it run using icons, a small IconX script be written, the Tool icon of the game be converted to a Project icon (using IconEdit or similar), and the default tool be set to "IconX" (using 'Information ... from the Icons menu) . The Problem: While this is a satisfactory solution, it is not ( IMHO) a very elegant one. For one, you have to rename the actual executables (say Pacman to Pacman.run), since "Pacman" would have to be the name of the script. Another problem is that your hard drive would be littered with tiny shell scripts containing two words each ("KillAGA Pacman. run", "KillAGA Galaga . run", "KillAGA Virus. run", etc, etc). What is needed is some way to make KillAGA be the 'Default Tool' of the game icons. That way, both the above problems would be easily solved . The Solution (tadaaaa. . . ) : Enter WBKillAGA stage left. This is a short program that provides KillAGA with a handy-dandy WorkBench interface. Now you only have to change the game icon from a Tool to a Project, and set the 'Default Tool' to WBKillAGA. WBKillAGA must be put in the same drawer as KillAGA. That's it! IMPORTANT: You MUST have KillAGA. WBKillAGA is only a Workbench interface for KillAGA! The tedium : Imagine you have, what, 20 old games that don't work with AGA? Converting ill those icons is going to be a looong and boring process . . The other solution (tantadataaa .. . ): Enter FixIcons stage right swinging on a rope :) This neat little program was designed to automate the process of changing all those icons. It will take a group of icons (even "fake" icons made by WB) and convert them to 'Project' icons, setting the 'Default Tool' to "WBKillAGA". If a program does not have a "genuine" icon, one will be made for it. You can then later edit its image with IconEdit. Usage: First show all icons to be changed (use "Show menu if necessary). "All Files" from the "Window" Then click once on the FixIcons icon. Press SHIFT and don't let go until I say so. Click once on each icon to be changed . Double-click on the last icon. Let go of SHIFT. Voilß: All your icons will be changed in a few seconds. Easy, isn't it? : ) Double-clicking the FixIcons icon will remind you of the above procedure.
